I am so exited to post for you guys today because I have an awesome product to tell you about !!
Now as many of you already know, I have super loooong very thick straight hair. Therefore, when Knot Genie offered to send me one of their detangling brushes to review (and one to giveaway) I was ecstatic. Having always struggled with brushing my own hair I have become even more desperate for an alternative method of brushing my daughters very stubborn curly-ish hair. Pick combs and paddle brushes just don't cut it for us. Those types tend to pull, tug and tear at the tangles rather than separate them, resulting in frizzy frazzled hair. On top of it I practically have to tackle my daughter to the ground for her to allow me to brush her hot mess, I guess I don't blame her. What girl doesn't remember their mom brushing, french braiding and 'torturing' us as kids to look presentable for school ?
In light of my life long hair brushing battles I have to be honest, I definetly had my doubts about the Knot Genies ability to actually do anything different than a drugstore brush or comb could. I mean it is a weird turtle shell shape with no handle and is very light weight almost chintzy. When I first laid eyes on it, my doubts grew.
Then I brushed my hair with it and I was shocked! My normal arm cramping struggle was no longer an issue. The nimble brush glides through my hair, slightly slowing down when it come to a tangle then continues to glide through doing its job. The turtle like shape of it, which I originally thought would be difficult to use without a handle, turns out to be the perfect shape. The Knot Genie comfortably nestles in my hand allowing me to grip the brush and hold it in all different directions. It works so well that I now reach for my Knot Genie detangler over my normal brush. My only snaggle with this product if you can even call it that is having troubles using it when my hair is super wet, other than that it passes trough my hair effortlessly. I love it !
BUT the true test would be to use it on my daughter. If I could get her to actually sit and let me brush her hair, then maybe Knot Genie was on to something here.
Sure enough as soon as I asked her to sit down that it was time to fix her do she ran away screaming. Until I showed her the camo print turtle shell and explained that it wasn't a normal hair brush. After calming her down she let me smooth out her mane and to my amazement without any further hissy fit!! Maybe it was a fluke ? Yes, I am a very skeptical person. Nope, as a matter of fact she came down the stairs with it a few minutes later brushing her own hair ! Mind you she has just turned two so any time she is willing to do anything on her own is a big deal. Especially something as difficult as her hair.
What is it that makes this brush superior over other brushes? That would be the staggering length in the bristles. According to the Knot Genie site, 'When brushing, they bend just right, to gently untangle the hair. And because of this lack of stress, the hair's cuticle stays unharmed... revealing the smoothest, shiniest hair you've ever seen.'
The Knot Genie has truly become a valuable staple item in my beauty collection. I recommend to this product to every mother with a daughter, whether their hair is fine and frizzy or thick and ratty like my daughters. Plus with super cute print and sheen's there is a Knot Genie brush to match everyone personality. - Mine and the one I am giving away are both in the print Camo Cloud. My son calls it mommy's Army brush :-)

ReplyDeleteI am having a hair dilemma, of sorts. I am 56 years old and I have worn my hair long my entire life. Its part of my identity, but most people think when you reach my age, you should have more conservative looking hair. I don't really think I care, though. My husband loves my hair and I like it so that should be all that matters.
