Now the first week of Nutrisystem is called Fast5. NS guarantees that you will lose 5 lbs your first week. It is a week of essential HELL ... IF your not used to eating regularly and normal portions and ton of veggies. It is also a week to reset your metabolism, your mind and overall proper portions of food.
This here is one of the pizza dinners for during the Fast5. I added the veggies on top and it tasted fantastic !! Along with a side of salad this filled me up nicely !
The food schedule for the first week looks something like this ( at least for me it did )
Breakfast - These were either a muffin, or granola bar. I would also have a plain flavored coffee with a small splash, and Im talking small splash, of coconut milk. This fills me up and peps me up for the day. the breakfast bars I'm not sure if ou can tell from the photo are not crumbly or dry but actually soft and moist - so good !
Mid morning snack - Which is a shake called Energi-ZING - I felt good after this shake, awake and full.
Lunch - There were protein bars, tortellini, chicken pot pie (so good), chili with beans ( also very good and filling), spicy kung pao noodle ( did not like these) and three cheese chicken pasta cup ( this was OK ). The lunches were light so I needed to usually have something with them such as some sort of veggie to feel full.

Afternoon snack - Which is a shake called Craving Crusher. - Honestly this shake helped but I prefer the Energizing morning one. Not because of flavor they sort of taste the same to me but in how content it made me feel.
This is what my salads usually look like. Sometimes I would have it a bit before dinner, with dinner and other day a while after dinner. basically whenever I started feeling hungry I would snack on a salad.
This here is the Chicken Alfredo dinner with sauteed mushrooms and roma tomatoes and a side of broccoli. This wasn't my favorite dinner but it was definitely edible and fulfilling :-)
The Chicken Pot Pie dinner I totally forgot to photograph but if you watch my video you can see me prepare it - I don't even like pot pie and this was really really good !!!
As far as water intake the no calorie flavor drops I talked about in last weeks post are a total life saver to getting me to actively drink more. Not because I don't like water but just reminding myself to keep drinking it and that it would be yummy too.
What you NEED to know about the first week of Nutrisystem : Fast5
I wrote most of this post sporadically through out the week. I am going through and spell checking but am keeping the raw thoughts as they were written.
It is not glamorous. You will probably feel shaking irritable and get a empty belly feeling often if you do not eat your meals and snacks at the right times. After the first few days you get the hang of your bodies hunger signs before it turns into a full blown starving feeling.
Expect to be going to the bathroom more. Both number one and number two ... quite often. Especially if you are enjoying your fair share of broccoli like I have.
The food is actually pretty good ! I half expected the food to be pinch your nose terrible and aside from the Kung Pao noodles which were just bland everything else has tasted really good ! Actually I am NOT a fan of Chicken Pot Pie and really liked it !!
You NEED to add in tons of non-starchy veggies to make it through the week and not be miserable. I recommend spreading them through out the day too. Because if you don't and you just sit there eating them all at once you will just get that 'I am still hungry but can't eat another bite of this syndrome.'
Spacing your meals put at regular intervals will help this first week feel and be more manageable.
ALSO it is so true that the slower you eat the fuller you feel. I am a firm believer of this. Don't forget to follow me on Instagram where I post fun pictures of the foods I am eating !
Do not cheat. Do not give up in yourself. You can do this !!!
- I had to tell myself this several times. I was very tempted to give in and have some 4th of July BBQ, or some fried dough at the concert I went to but I didn't and knowing I gave the first week my all is the best feeling ! Prove to yourself that you can do this for yourself at least for the first week then go back and assess whether you want or can move forward. You are stronger than you know ! You ordered the program already so do it right and put in the effort this program deserves so that you may be successful.
Throw out all your fav foods before starting this program, if you can. It's true dude out of sight out of mind REALLY helped me.
Do not be afraid to ask for fresh veggies when you are out and about !! What's the worst scenario ? They think oh wow look at this health nut. Um girlfriend you just called a health nut *high five* !! We had to go to my sons baseball photos at a local pizza joint and instead of grubbing down on some pizza I asked the clerk for carrots and he gave me a whole bunch, for free !
The carrots I had at Peter Pipers rather than chowing down on pizza - I did go home and have a nutrisystem pizza though and it was GOOD !!!!
That being said, I am sooo not one to sit and mangia on veggies, especially carrots. But man when you are hungry because you are actually eating only what your body fundamentally needs, you will sit and eat just about anything as if it were a bag if Lays BBQ chips.
At some points you will feel like your body is eating itself - that's because it is - and it's uncomfortable at first but I had to start thinking of it this way. When I had braces as a teen my mom said to me in a few years hey even months or weeks you will not remember this discomfort and pain. You will just see the results and think wow I am so glad I did that. And that has stuck with me and helped me push through this first tough adjustment week.
Now on to the results !!
Starting weight : 175 lbs
Week ONE weigh in ( After Fast 5 ) : 170.4
That means I have lost 4.6 lbs my very first week !!
End of program ( 3 months ) goal weight : 145 lbs
Ultimate goal weight : 125 lbs
