Sexy Yet Totally Wearable Swim Suits for the Curvy Girl

The swim suits featured in this post were sent to me. However, I chose each of these specifically for their style, shape and detailing.

Important note : I have been made aware that SwimWearForMe is no longer in business. However, there is a site called SwimsuitsForAll which sells similar suit to the ones I have featured here.

This is me.
I am a plus sized mom whose kids love to be in water whenever physically possible - especially during the scorching summer months here in Arizona. Now I do not have the most confidence in myself when it comes to my body. I usually have to give myself a little pep talk before slipping on a swim suit and jumping in the pool with the kids. OK I don't actually jump in ... but you get what I am saying. Well then I thought that is silly. I shouldn't be worried about how I look but rather on spending time with the kids. So I went on the hunt for swim suits that would make me feel confident while looking stylish and sexy at the same time. Oh and they have to be able to hold  everything in and up too haha !

On my search I discovered that finding swimsuits that are cut to flatter a curvy girls figure was trickier than I thought. However, my best advice for you is to look for a suit with a fun bold print or an asymmetrical neckline. Below I have picked out and nervously modeled 3 of my favorite bathing suit silhouettes from my one my favorite online bathing suit shops, SwimwearForMe. All of which are perfect for the curvy girl.
SwimwearForMe offers bathing suits in a variety of sizes, 4 to 24W. I mean come on, their tag line is 'curves are beautiful'. ♥♥♥♥ On the topic of sizing, I am, in normal clothing a size 14. I ordered these suits also in a size 14 and they fit perfectly ! I recommend double checking your size with their size chart but in my experience it is pretty dead on.
I would also like to mention that my 5 year old son was my video/photographer & I think he did a fabulous job !

Now for those sexy suits I promised you ...

Go for a BOLD Print with this super funky yet girly Longitude Modern Art Bandeau One Piece.
I really love that this suit came with a removable strap. That way I can strap it on when I am sitting eating a burger fresh off the grill or remove it for sunbathing = no funny tan lines ! The asymmetrical peplum mini skirt detail conceals the tummy area while the colorful brush stroke print brings attention elsewhere.
This suit also is equipped with a Powernet tummy lining. This lining helps to smooth everything out a bit.
Who doesn't love a funky printed tankini ?
OK lets face it, if I know I am going to be in my bathing suit most of the day I tend to grab for a tankini...you know so its easier to go to the bathroom. I also really like getting separates because then I can switch out the bottoms to whatever style I feel most comfortable wearing.
Here I am wearing the Badgley Mischka Zara Shirred Bandeau Tankini with a classic black bottom. I think a black skirted bottom or some longer styled boy short would look super cute with this top as well.

Badgley Mischka Valentina Beaded One Shoulder One Piece
The moment this suit arrived on my doorstep it stole my heart ! Not only is this suit a slimming solid black, it has the extra oompf of the one shouldered look as well as a draped front and a gorgeous bead encrusted detail at the natural waist. This suit also has a built in, non visible nylon/elastane lining too!!
Just look at the beautiful beading !!
and comfortable soft molded cups which I felt like they gave me plenty support.

Now that was a ton of photos hu ? I wanted to show every beautiful intricate detail of these pieces. I am loving them all but I want to know, Which one is your favorite ? Comment below ...

  2. Kudos to you for your post! You exude confidence in your pictures (and your photographer did a great job!) All are great suits. I love the style of the black suit the best and it has an extra oomph that elevates it above the other two.

  4. I like the black one shouldered with the decorative trim at the waist, but I would probably look better in the first one with the straps on, I don't do well with strapless , I do like the size options that they have at SwimwearForMe thank you for this review.

  6. These look great! All of them. I was always about a size 4-6...until recently. Now I am a size 14. I am okay with my size and am actually much healthier. But swimwear has been something of a problem. I am so glad to learn about these gorgeous suits and how good they look on a lovely curvy (woman's!) figure. Thank You!

  7. You look great and I was having a difficult time figuring out which I loved best. I think it's the 1st one with the bold prints on top. They are all nice looking. I think my daughter would love these suits as well

  8. CAN I JUST SAY, plus sized, travel size, fun size, whatever size! You look beautiful! As a matter of fact my husband just came in the room and asked who the hottie in the bathing suits was! Actually you've vastly helped me to improve my body image at the moment, We are actually the exact same clothing size. Thank you, for your bravery in modelling, for showing me how dysmorphic my own image of myself can be, and for showing me some new swimsuit ideas!

  10. Thanks so much for posting real photos and being honest about your size. It really helps me to narrow my search down. You can never tell what a suit will look like from the online photos. Plus size models aren't really normal plus size. By the way… you look great! I love them all but the black one shoulder is my fav!

  12. Those swim suites are very stylish. I really like them a lot. I know a lot of moms who are plus size and do not believe they can look great in a swim suite. However, you just proved them all wrong. It's all about finding the right swim suite, but these are great!
