Have you heard the myth that potty training girls is easier than potty training boys ?

Well, whoever came up with that saying clearly never met my little girl.

Potty training Sophia has been a bit more of a challenge than it was with my son. He literally just woke up one day ( the week after he turned 3 ) and said he was done wearing diapers. How easy is that ? He had done well with going on the potty leading up to that day but after his proclamation he never put on another diaper or Pull-Ups® again. He never wet the bed either, I know, I got lucky!

However, Sophia, who will be 3 in February has been more difficult to train. She gets so wrapped up with playing with her dolls and who has their hair ready for the ball that she doesn't realize she has to go potty until it's too late. We haven't had much success with the timer method either. You know where I check in with her every 30 minutes or so. Actually this didn't work with my son either. Both kids are pretty stubborn and independent, I blame daddy for those traits :-), so me nagging them about going on the potty just had adverse effects. The only method that has seemed to work for us with Sophia, so far, has been to use Pull-Ups®. Pull-Ups® are, of course, more absorbent than big girl panties and way easier than regular diapers for her to get up and down when she does recognize the urge to go potty. It hasn't been a fix all but she is now having way more 'good days' in a row than before. I am feeling pretty positive that she will be fully potty trained by her 3rd birthday.

I'm curious, what is it that clicked for your little one when it came to potty training ?
